Rhett Butler is the vice president of development at Philanthropy Roundtable and has been with the organization since May 2024. Rhett uses his background in development and public policy to build relationships with the Roundtable’s growing community of supporters and lead the development team.
He previously worked in fundraising at the Commonwealth Foundation and the Mercatus Center. He also worked in government affairs at a small law firm and as an independent consultant, which included educating federal lawmakers about philanthropic freedom and donor privacy. Before that he held policy positions on Capitol Hill and at the U.S. Department of Labor and White House.
Rhett earned a master’s degree in government with honors from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in international politics from Penn State University.
