“At our foundation, we truly believe we only grow if we live outside of our comfort zone. As a result, we bring an entrepreneurial mindset to everything we do.”
Abby Moffat was named one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in U.S. Philanthropy” by Inside Philanthropy. She is CEO and president of the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation, a leading philanthropic institution focused on American founding values, national security and education.
In that role, Abby spearheads the foundation’s “cross-pollination” strategy to increase collaboration among partner organizations. She was instrumental in founding the Daniel Morgan Graduate School of National Security, Code 3 and the Mysa School. She has further magnified the foundation’s reach and impact by serving on the boards of the America Fund, the Heritage Foundation and The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.
With a lifelong passion for entrepreneurship and relationship-building, Abby previously cultivated an extensive network of corporate contacts as the top head-hunter for CWI/SAI, an executive search firm. She later refined her talents as the owner of an event-planning start-up. An advocate for education, Abby is a graduate of Mt. Vernon College and holds honorary doctorates from Wheaton College and Hillsdale College.
The causes she cares about share a common thread: creativity, drive and the American spirit of innovation. Abby is the granddaughter of Shelby Cullom Davis and Kathryn Wasserman Davis and the mother of Spencer and Julia Moffat. She believes the entrepreneurial mindset means starting every day by asking, ‘What can we do today to serve others?’
