It seems difficult to believe, but this September marked 19 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon that sent a generation of Americans, including myself, to war. In the years since, millions of philanthropic dollars have been poured into the veteran and military family space, aimed at showing the gratitude of a nation seeking to serve those who served. Philanthropic giving for veterans and military families remains strong, even as it has become smarter, leaner, and more effective.
